Position Overview:

Blue Recycled Materials is seeking an experienced and meticulous Accounting Specialist to manage and maintain the company's financial records. This role is essential for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, involving tasks such as transaction entry, posting accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), closing the books, generating invoices and bills, and reviewing financial statements. The Accounting Specialist will also assist in creating profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Key Responsibilities:

Transaction Entry:

Enter daily financial transactions into the accounting system.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR):

Process and post accounts payable and receivable transactions.
Ensure timely payment of invoices and collection of outstanding receivables.
Reconcile AP and AR ledgers with general ledger accounts.
Closing the Books:

Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts.
Prepare adjusting journal entries.


Invoicing and Billing:

Generate and issue invoices and bills to clients.
Track invoice status and follow up on overdue payments.
Ensure all billing is accurate and complies with contractual agreements.


Financial Reporting:

Review and create profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management review.
Provide analysis and insights on financial performance.


General Accounting Duties:

Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure proper coding of transactions.
Assist with audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.


Communication:

Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters.
Respond to inquiries from clients, vendors, and colleagues.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Proven experience in accounting or a similar role.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP).
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with advanced Excel functions and data analysis.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
Familiarity with ERP systems.
