Job Summary

The District of Columbia Housing Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisory Housing Program Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Housing Program Division, you will be responsible for providing technical and administrative supervision to staff, planning and assigning work, and evaluating employee performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Housing Program Manager in a wide range of division responsibilities, including collaborating on scope of assignments and timelines, and ensuring the efficient and effective completion of the division's work product.
  • Plan, assign, and organize the work of Housing Program Division staff based on volume of work, changes in regulations and statutes, and special initiatives.
  • Interpret policy and regulatory requirements as needed, and develop methods to reduce costs and improve services.
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems, and keep the Housing Program Manager apprised of progress and/or potentially controversial matters.
  • Prepare correspondence, technical and status reports, and other documentation as needed.
  • Conduct monthly quality control of cross-section of Housing Program Specialist transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness, and identify staff training and/or disciplinary actions required.
  • Query data to develop appropriate work assignments for subordinates, and review, research, and approve rental adjustments and changes to voucher size.
  • Train and educate landlords on HCVP recertification and lease-up procedures, and plan, schedule, and coordinate teamwork efforts.
  • Evaluate employee performance, determine material, equipment, and resource needs, and resolve conflicts related to work operations.
  • Assist the Housing Program Manager with personnel issues, such as job selections, promotions, personnel status changes, incentives, adverse/disciplinary action, separation, and approve leave requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, and at least 5 years of progressively responsible related experience, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience in a housing authority environment.
  • Other equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
