Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant of Residential Life is a live-on graduate student position that plays a critical role in supporting the Residential Life and Housing department. As a Graduate Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills, work with a diverse group of students, and contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive living environment. You'll work closely with the Residential Life and Housing team to develop and implement programs, services, and initiatives that promote student success and well-being.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Residential Life and Housing staff to develop and implement programs, services, and initiatives that promote student success and well-being.
  • Provide support and guidance to student leaders and residents, including advising, training, and mentoring.
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive living environment by promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Develop and implement assessment and evaluation strategies to measure the effectiveness of Residential Life and Housing programs and services.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Must be a full-time degree-seeking graduate student at VCU.
  • Must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0.
  • Must be in good academic standing and good conduct standing.
  • Must demonstrate proficient knowledge of VCU and Residential Life and Housing policies.
  • Must communicate well in group and one-on-one situations.
  • Must establish oneself as a leader through positive rapport with diverse populations.
  • Must employ critical thinking skills to solve problems.
