As a Graduate Assistant for Residential Life, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of our division and supporting the growth and potential of our students.

Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant for Residential Life will work closely with our Residential Life and Housing team to develop, administer, and support a comprehensive residence life program. This includes educating and managing residential students, promoting academic success, and implementing educational training and programming. You'll work closely with student leaders, faculty, and staff to create a positive and inclusive community that supports the growth and development of our students.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with students, supervisors, and campus partners to create a positive and inclusive community
  • Develop and implement educational training and programming to promote academic success and student development
  • Manage residential students, including addressing conflicts and providing support and resources
  • Work closely with student leaders to develop and implement programs and activities that promote community engagement and student development
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of assessment and evaluation processes to measure the effectiveness of our programs and services
Requirements
  • Must be a full-time degree-seeking graduate student at VCU
  • Must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0
  • Must be in good academic standing and good conduct standing
  • Must demonstrate proficient knowledge of VCU and Residential Life and Housing policies
  • Must communicate well in group and one-on-one situations
  • Must establish oneself as a leader through positive rapport with diverse populations
  • Must employ critical thinking skills to solve problems
