Job Description

Richmond Residential Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team in providing person-centered services to adults with intellectual disabilities in a community residential program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in carrying out scheduled independent living program activities related to assisting and supporting clients.
  • Participate in developing goals and objectives for the systematic training and behavior modification of supported individuals.
  • Provide timely transportation to supported individuals for daily commuting, healthcare needs, consumer services, and leisure and social activities.
  • Administer medication according to agency policy and procedures.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of supported individuals, including orienting them in security, fire prevention, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain ongoing contact with client families and other representatives through phone calls and home visits.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma with one year experience in the field of intellectual disabilities and/or community residential services preferred.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's license and dependable transportation.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and other pre-employment screening.

Working Environment:

The work environment is a home or apartment setting, primarily indoors, with occasional travel to and from activities and meetings.
