Job SummaryThe Graduate Assistant of Residential Life is a live-off graduate student position that's responsible for developing, administering, and supporting a comprehensive residence life program. This includes working with students, staff, and faculty to create a positive and inclusive living environment that promotes academic success, personal growth, and community engagement.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with students, staff, and faculty to develop and implement residence life programs and services that meet the needs of our students.
- Provide support and guidance to students, including advising, mentoring, and crisis intervention.
- Develop and maintain relationships with students, staff, and faculty to build a positive and inclusive community.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of assessment and evaluation strategies to measure the effectiveness of residence life programs and services.
- Must be a full-time degree-seeking graduate student at VCU.
- Must remain in good academic standing as defined by the University and the academic program in which they are enrolled.
- Must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0.
- Must act under all federal, state, and local laws, and remain in good conduct standing as governed by University and Housing policies.
- Experience working in residence life or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
