About Rocky Mountain Prep

Rocky Mountain Prep is an expanding network of forward-thinking public charter schools dedicated to serving students and families in the Greater Denver Area.

Since its inception in 2012, Rocky Mountain Prep has grown from a single school with 130 students to a total of twelve schools, currently supporting over 5,000 scholars from PreK through 12th grade across two districts.

Our schools are rooted in a culture of rigor and compassion, consistently surpassing local district performance academically, while also nurturing our scholars in our PEAK values: perseverance, excellence, adventure, and kindness.

Who We Seek

We are looking for individuals who are mission-driven, reflective about their practice, data-savvy, and focused on results.

Throughout the academic year, Rocky Mountain Prep is committed to achieving five key objectives:

  4. Maintaining full enrollment by October Count
  5. Meeting academic goals across various grade levels

Each member of our organization plays a vital role in reaching these objectives.

In This Role, You Will...

As a Special Education Support Specialist, you will be instrumental in helping to achieve these goals. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Mild/Moderate Support: You will provide one-on-one assistance to scholars who require support in navigating the school environment. This includes aiding in general education classes and special education small groups, focusing on curriculum access, student engagement, and behavioral support. You will collaborate closely with a mild/moderate case manager to enhance daily instruction.

2. Center-Based Support: In this capacity, you will assist scholars within the special education classroom and general education settings as outlined by their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Under the guidance of the Lead Teacher, you will support scholars with daily instruction, health-related needs, recreational activities, and other tasks as assigned.

Role Mission

Special Education Support Specialists are dedicated to facilitating data-driven instruction that leads to exceptional academic outcomes while fostering meaningful relationships with each scholar.

Through ongoing feedback and collaboration with a lead teacher, you will help drive student goals by providing individualized support, facilitating group activities, and enhancing students' sensory, motor, life, and social-emotional skills.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting students with significant needs to promote independence in daily living.
  • Instructing small and large groups in academics, sensory skills, arts, life skills, and recreational activities.
  • Supervising and supporting students in various settings, including classrooms, physical education, lunchrooms, and during transit.
  • Monitoring behavior and implementing behavior plans as necessary.
  • Providing assistance with feeding and other health-related tasks as required.
  • Carrying out occupational or physical therapy activities as directed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Eligibility to work in the United States.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with students with disabilities.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary ranges from $40,000 to $68,800 annually, with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance (medical, dental, vision), disability insurance, life insurance, retirement options, and paid time off.

This is a full-time, in-person position with eligibility for benefits.
