Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Chartwell Hospitality. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for the overall success of our daily kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit culinary talents by personally performing tasks while leading the staff and managing all food-related functions.
  • Prepare and cook foods of all types, on a regular basis (restaurant line) and for special guests or functions (banquets).
  • Work to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget.
  • Supervise all kitchen areas to ensure a consistent, high-quality product is produced.
  • Responsible for guiding and developing staff, including direct reports.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and other workers engaged in food preparation.
  • Ensure sanitation and food standards are achieved.
  • Provide services that are above and beyond for internal and external guest satisfaction and retention.
  • Set a positive example for guest relations.
  • Empower employees to provide excellent customer service.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Handle guest problems and complaints.

Requirements:

  • Must have proven experience in both ala carte line cooking and large banquet production.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession.
  • Requires oral and written communication skills.
