Position Overview:

We are seeking skilled Commissioning Technicians with expertise in GE commissioning processes. As a vital member of FairWind, Inc., you will contribute to our GE Projects Team, providing safe and high-quality commissioning services that support the advancement of clean energy initiatives across North America.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commissioning, start-up, and operational management of wind turbines.
  • Perform tasks both on the ground and at elevated heights.
  • Participate in regular on-site safety briefings.
  • Conduct inspections, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of wind turbines.
  • Safely operate company-assigned vehicles.
  • Complete and submit necessary documentation (commissioning records, timesheets, service reports, etc.).
  • Engage in on-the-job training alongside site personnel.
  • Travel is required 100% of the time.
  • Uphold high standards of safety and quality throughout all operations.
  • Commissioning Technician Level 1:
    • Complete GE Tech Essentials LOTO Training.
    • Participate in GE Turbine Fundamentals Training (1.x Basic, 2.x Basic, Sierra Basic).
    • Follow GE Commissioning Procedures to perform PCAT/FCAT commissioning under the supervision of a Level 2 Technician.
    • Assist with all commissioning tasks within the nacelle and hub.
  • Commissioning Technician Level 2:
    • Complete GE Converter Fundamentals Training.
    • Perform all duties of a Level 1 Technician.
    • Conduct PCAT & FCAT commissioning independently.
    • Oversee up-tower commissioning activities for nacelle and hub.
    • Support Level 3 Technicians in troubleshooting tower issues.
  • Commissioning Technician Level 3:
    • Complete GE Advanced Troubleshooting and SCADA Training.
    • Conduct down-tower commissioning, including SCADA and wind control systems.
    • Lead the commissioning team to ensure successful wind turbine completion.
    • Collaborate with the Commissioning Lead to troubleshoot towers during turbine and park reliability assessments.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with basic power tools.
  • Pass a drug screening.
  • Valid driver's license with no DWI/DUI/OUI in the past 5 years.
  • Proficient in English communication.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to climb up to 300 ft. twice daily.
  • Basic wind technician certifications (Tower Rescue, CPR, First Aid, AED, OSHA 10, Competent Climber, Confined Space, Working at Heights, NFPA 70, LOTO).
  • Current certifications from major turbine manufacturers and GWO certifications are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated responsibility and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliability and a positive attitude towards work and life.
  • Ability to work under challenging conditions.
  • Willingness to travel 100% and be away from home.
  • Prepared to start as soon as possible.
