Job Overview

Position Title: Wind Blade Services Technician I

Position Summary:

This role is designated for a full-time traveling wind blade technician I, responsible for executing tasks in a secure and efficient manner. The primary duties encompass assisting and supporting the lead wind blade technician in blade inspections and repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the mobilization of all necessary repair equipment to the site, including transportation, setup, rigging, and operation of up-tower blade access tools.
  • Engages in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and similar tasks with on-the-job training.
  • Supports the lead technician in conducting repairs on suspended platforms or ground access, performing non-structural laminate repairs and blade inspections as directed.
  • Assists in the proper storage, handling, and maintenance of all blade repair tools and equipment.
  • Participates in weekly inventory checks, vehicle inspections, and safety incident reporting.
  • Contributes to the safety culture at WindCom by reporting daily work progress and collaborating on blade maintenance and repair objectives.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate Degree in a Technical Mechanical or Wind Energy field is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, with the ability to be away for at least 8 weeks at a time.
  • Availability to work across the U.S. during holidays, weekends, and overtime as necessary.
  • Must meet specific weight requirements, with a maximum weight of 260 lbs, plus personal protective equipment weighing approximately 30-35 lbs.
  • Physical capability to climb wind towers multiple times daily and work at heights exceeding 300 feet in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and handle weights up to 75 pounds repetitively.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces.
  • Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Office and Google Suite applications.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain OSHA-10 Construction, Defensive Driving, and First Aid/CPR/AED certifications prior to employment.
  • Valid Driver's License and DOT certification are required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle record check, physical examination, and drug screening.

  • Possession of GWO Basic Safety Certificate and/or Blade Repair Training Certificate is a plus.
