Position Title: Wind Blade Services Technician III / IV

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled wind blade technician with extensive experience in the field. This role involves full-time travel (100%) and is critical for executing tasks safely and efficiently. The technician will lead a team in conducting both internal and external inspections and repairs of composite wind blades, addressing damage that ranges from minor to severe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of 2-4 technicians in performing repairs on wind blades, both up-tower and down-tower.
  • Serve as a safety advocate, promoting adherence to safety protocols and identifying potential hazards.
  • Oversee the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for wind turbines.
  • Manage all aspects of job site preparation, including labor, materials, and daily safety meetings.
  • Operate specialized access platforms for blade maintenance.
  • Execute complex repairs on wind blades, following established guidelines and protocols.
  • Conduct additional maintenance tasks, including leading edge protection applications and inspections of lightning protection systems.
  • Facilitate weekly inventory checks and vehicle inspections, along with safety incident reporting.
  • Contribute to the overall safety culture and report on daily progress and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in wind blade or composite repair is essential.
  • Proven ability to manage the complete repair process, including damage assessment and documentation.
  • Skilled in sanding, grinding, and laminating repair layers using various materials.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must meet specific physical requirements and safety standards.
  • Basic computer proficiency is necessary for documentation and reporting.
  • Certification in OSHA 10 Construction and First Aid/CPR is required prior to employment.
  • A valid Driver's License and DOT certification are mandatory.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings is essential.
