Job Overview

Position Title: Wind Blade Services Technician III / IV

Summary of the Role:

We are seeking a full-time, highly skilled wind blade technician with extensive experience to undertake traveling assignments. The primary focus of this role is to lead a team in executing both internal and external inspections and repairs of composite wind blades, addressing damage levels from Cat 1 to Cat 5.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of 2-4 technicians in performing repairs both up-tower and down-tower.
  • Serve as a safety advocate, promoting adherence to safety protocols and intervening in unsafe practices.
  • Guide technicians in executing lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures for wind turbines.
  • Oversee job site preparation, including labor and materials management, and conduct daily safety briefings and planning meetings.
  • Operate specialized blade access platforms, such as Kaeufer 360 and 2m work cages.
  • Execute complex wind blade damage repairs, ensuring compliance with guidelines from the Technical Project Management team.
  • Conduct additional maintenance tasks, including leading edge protection applications and inspections of lightning protection systems.
  • Facilitate weekly inventory checks and vehicle inspections, along with safety incident reporting.
  • Contribute to the overall safety culture and provide daily updates on work progress and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in wind blade repair or composite repair is essential.
  • Proven ability to manage all stages of the repair process, including inspection and documentation of critical parameters.
  • Competence in sanding, grinding, and laminating repair layers using appropriate materials.
  • Familiarity with vacuum bagging techniques for laminate compaction.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate Degree in a relevant technical field is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must meet specific weight and physical requirements for safety compliance.
  • Basic computer skills for operating software applications are necessary.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain OSHA 10 Construction certification and First Aid/CPR training.
  • Valid Driver's License and DOT certification are required.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings is mandatory.
