About the Role

SJS Executives, LLC, a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Equipment Procurement Specialist to work in a Long Beach, California location. The successful candidate will provide equipment planning duties for a local VA Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Planning: Develop and deliver medical equipment plans as scoped for healthcare capital projects.
  • Procurement Packages: Produce procurement packages following VA/GSA contracting procurement standards, including Statement of Work, technical specifications, attachments, documentation, drawings, independent government cost estimates, bid sheets, and budgets.
  • Equipment Identification: Identify, evaluate, and recommend equipment to be purchased for large and small renovation projects and new healthcare facilities.
  • Plan Review: Interpret and review provided architectural plans for concurrence to the organization's Technical Information Library (TIL), standards, and equipment specifications.
  • Clinical Space Equipment: Produce initial clinical space equipment lists with required and appropriate clinical equipment.
  • Process Improvement: Apply continuous improvement to process and development of material flow to deliver optimum level scheduling and planning.
  • Cost Estimates: Provide all inputs for the development of draft project cost estimates for minor work, repair, and maintenance.
  • Emerging Technologies: Monitor emerging technologies, report on healthcare-related technology trends, assess new healthcare-related technologies, and disseminate healthcare-related technology information as appropriate.
  • Inventory Management: Identify and track inventory of existing equipment in areas planned to be relocated or decommissioned.
  • Equipment Database: Enter all equipment information into the VA database when projects are completed and all equipment is installed.
  • Documentation: Maintain the digital resource library that includes drawings, plans, specification procurement documents, project correspondence, and project binders relating to major project equipment planning.
Requirements
  • Education: Preferred education of a bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of work experience in Medical Planning Design.
  • Skills: Project Management and Interior Design knowledge is beneficial, but not required. Experienced with the integration of medical equipment and the associated infrastructure technology, including the exchange of information between disparate systems.
  • Knowledge: Maintains functional knowledge of relevant safety codes and standards of regulatory bodies, including The Joint Commission (TJC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).
  • Computer Skills: Must possess computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat DC, and experience with Microsoft Teams is beneficial, but not required.
  • Software Skills: Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Project.
  • Confidentiality: Must safeguard confidential information and comply with VA privacy act laws, federal regulations, VA statutes, and police, and VHA policy.
  • Credentials: Must have a clean record and be able to successfully pass a drug test and thorough background check that spans beyond 7 years for possible access onto military installations.
