Position Overview:

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is in search of a Principal / Sr. Principal Operational Technology Cybersecurity Engineer. This role will be based in Huntsville, Alabama and will contribute to the Sentinel program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities in Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and critical infrastructure networks.
  • Assist in developing and overseeing security monitoring, event triage, and threat detection for Operational Technology (OT) systems.
  • Analyze potential threats to mission-critical operations and collaborate on evaluating OT sensor deployment.
  • Work alongside site engineers and senior cybersecurity professionals to recommend measures for addressing incidents and known vulnerabilities.
  • Design and implement security protocols, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption methods.
  • Monitor and assess security incidents to detect trends and emerging threats.
  • Establish and uphold security policies and procedures in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical mentorship and training to team members and stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about evolving cyber threats and technologies to enhance the organization's security posture.

This position follows a standard work schedule of 9/80, allowing employees to work nine-hour days from Monday to Thursday and take every other Friday off. Competitive relocation assistance may be offered.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Principal Operational Technology Cybersecurity Engineer: 5 years with a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 3 years with a Master's degree, or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
  • Sr. Principal Operational Technology Cybersecurity Engineer: 9 years with a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 7 years with a Master's degree, or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date within the last 6 years.
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
  • DoD 8570/8140 IAT level 2 or higher certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of control system design, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • In-depth understanding of information security technologies and architectures for IoT and Operational Technology (OT) Security, Governance, Risk, and Compliance.
  • Proficient in Operational Technology/SCADA protocol analysis, including common industry protocols (e.g., BACNet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.).

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with the Agile Development Framework.
  • General knowledge of industry standards and best practices (e.g., NIST SP 800-82, ISA/IEC 62443, ISO/IEC 27001, IEC 61508, IEC 61511, NERC CIP, etc.).
  • Thorough understanding of security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation (e.g., flow meters, transducers, densimeters, controllers, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of electrical schematics/drawings.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with customers and internal project teams.
  • General knowledge of operational technology environments (e.g., Power & Energy, Manufacturing, Oil and Gas, etc.).
  • Familiarity with containerization and virtualization technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of programming languages, such as Python and C++.
  • A passion for continuous learning and sharing knowledge for the benefit of others.

Salary Range: $112,600 - $169,000
Salary Range 2: $139,700 - $209,500
The above salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may qualify for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay, designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director roles may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
