Position Overview:
The Volunteer Program Manager plays a crucial role in the successful administration and execution of our volunteer initiatives. This position serves as the primary resource for volunteer-related inquiries from both staff and volunteers. The Volunteer Program Manager collaborates closely with various departments to enhance the effectiveness of our volunteer program.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive systems for volunteer management, including records and statistics across all service locations.
- Collaborate with leadership to create and implement effective volunteer policies and handbooks.
- Cultivate and sustain volunteer contracts and community partnerships within our service area.
- Ensure all volunteers receive thorough orientation and training.
- Schedule and manage individual and group volunteers to meet organizational needs.
- Integrate community service workers into the volunteer framework.
- Organize recognition events for volunteers throughout the year.
- Support staff in supervising volunteers in their respective roles.
- Represent the organization at community events to promote volunteer opportunities.
- Coordinate public speaking engagements to raise awareness and encourage participation.
- Engage with local associations to enhance networking and outreach efforts.
- Work with the Development team to create materials for volunteer recruitment and recognition.
- Oversee volunteer scheduling, logistics, and record-keeping.
- Assess organizational needs and strategically match them with volunteer placements.
- Ensure accurate volunteer check-in procedures and maintain service hour records.
- Regularly update the volunteer website calendar.
- Prepare monthly reports on the volunteer program's contributions and effectiveness.
- Maintain the volunteer database.
- Foster relationships with multiple agencies to promote volunteering and donations.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Development teams to achieve departmental objectives.
- Attend public events, fundraising activities, and community gatherings.
Supervisory Duties:
Oversee and assist other departments in managing volunteers.
Skills and Qualifications:
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong teamwork, commitment, and communication skills. This role requires attention to detail, effective time management, and the ability to prioritize tasks. Candidates should possess energy and enthusiasm, with a strong drive to meet ambitious goals. Critical thinking, research abilities, and multitasking skills are essential.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience:
- Coursework in marketing, public relations, or a related field.
- Associate degree in public relations or a related field with 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience working with volunteers is required.
- Nonprofit experience is preferred.
Certifications:
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to obtain work-related certifications through Golden Harvest Food Bank.
