SSM Health is seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical First Assistant to join our team. As a Surgical First Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting surgeons during various surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist surgeons in a variety of surgical specialties, utilizing surgical instruments and equipment with precision and skill.
  • Provide exposure of the operative site through the use of retractors and other instruments, ensuring a clear and safe environment for the surgeon.
  • Anticipate and plan individualized care based on advanced knowledge of the surgical procedure, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients.
  • Prepare equipment, supplies, and resources as needed, re-evaluating and modifying plans as necessary to ensure seamless execution.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to perform all aspects of surgical procedures, implementing a plan of care that incorporates physician-prescribed treatments, nursing assessments, and diagnostic data.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or clinical certification in a related field.
  • Three years of experience in a surgical setting, with a focus on surgical assisting.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Certified First Assistant (CFA) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification from a recognized professional organization.
