Job Opportunity:

At SSM Health, we're seeking a skilled Surgical First Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our surgical team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the success of our patients and our organization.

Responsibilities:

Assist surgeons in a variety of surgical procedures, utilizing advanced knowledge and skills to provide exceptional patient care. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a smooth and efficient operating room environment. Demonstrate expertise in surgical instrumentation, suturing, and patient care. Anticipate and plan individualized care based on advanced knowledge of the surgical procedure. Prepare equipment, supplies, and resources as needed. Re-evaluate and modify resource needs as necessary. Implement a plan of care that incorporates physician-prescribed treatments, nursing assessments, and diagnostic data. Utilize critical judgment to analyze patient assessment data and develop an appropriate plan of care. Perform in a variety of surgical specialties as needed. Demonstrate competence in delegation, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and team building. Evaluate care given by team members and provide feedback. Supervise team members and maintain accountability for the standard of care provided. Act as a resource to other team members. Demonstrate and maintain knowledge and skills necessary to meet the physical, psycho-social, spiritual, cultural, and age-appropriate needs of each patient. Organize and utilize time efficiently. Demonstrate appropriate prioritization. Maintain an organized work environment. Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively on a team. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with patients, significant others, multidisciplinary team members, and co-workers. Work in a constant state of alertness and safety. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

An Associate's degree or Clinical Certification is required. Three years of experience in a surgical setting is preferred. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively is essential. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for success in this role. The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information is also required. A Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) and a Certified First Assistant (CFA) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification from the American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA) or the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) is required. Work Environment:

This role is based in a hospital setting and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be required to work collaboratively with the surgical team and maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Benefits:
