Job Summary

As a Surgical First Assistant, you will play a vital role in the operating room, working closely with surgeons to ensure the highest level of patient care. This is a unique opportunity to join a team of dedicated professionals who share your passion for delivering exceptional healthcare.

Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons during a variety of surgical procedures, utilizing your expertise and knowledge to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Provide exposure of the operative site, using retractors and other instruments as directed by the surgeon.
  • Suture skillfully all varieties of tissue with the appropriate suture materials and techniques.
  • Anticipate and plan individualized care based on advanced knowledge of the surgical procedure and anticipate unexpected patient and surgeon needs.
  • Prepare equipment, supply, and resource needs based on an individualized plan of care.
  • Re-evaluate and modify resource needs as needed.
  • Implement a plan of care that incorporates physician-prescribed treatments, nursing assessments, and diagnostic data in a manner that is prioritized, timely, and integrated with the plan of care.
  • Utilize critical judgment to analyze patient assessment data to develop an appropriate plan of care.
  • Perform in a variety of surgical specialties as needed.
  • Demonstrate competence in delegation, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and team building.
  • Evaluate care given by team members and provide feedback.
  • Effectively supervise team members and maintain accountability for the standard of care provided.
  • Act as a resource to other team members.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or Clinical Certification
  • Three years' experience in a related field
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Certified First Assistant - American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
Work Environment

This role is based in one of the following states: Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin.
