Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical First Assistant to join our team at United Surgical Partners International Inc (USPI). As a Surgical First Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth execution of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the surgeon and patient care team in setting up and providing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
  • Perform intraoperative surgical first assistant techniques, including using instruments and medical devices, providing surgical site exposure, and handling and/or cutting tissue.
  • Collaborate with other surgical team members to provide postoperative patient management and assist with breaking down the Operating Room or processing surgical instruments.
  • Maintain a safe, sterile environment by preparing, passing, holding, inserting, removing, cleaning, and assembling instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist the RN with circulating duties, transporting, positioning, skin preps, and specimen preparation.
  • Provide visualization of the operative site during the operative procedure.
  • Perform advanced skills that require knowledge of normal pathological anatomy and physiology.
  • Accountable for assisting in the training and/or orientation of other surgical technicians.

Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of a School of Surgical Technology.
  • Certification as a Surgical Tech preferred.
  • AHA BLS healthcare required within 30 days of hire, if not currently certified.
  • One to two years experience as a surgical technologist.
