Position Summary
The Accounting Educator, under the guidance of the Campus Director, plays a pivotal role in providing exceptional educational experiences to students enrolled in the accounting program. This position encompasses the creation of instructional materials, teaching core accounting concepts, evaluating student progress, and ensuring the curriculum aligns with industry benchmarks. The educator will mentor and assist students in their journey towards successful careers in the accounting field.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction and Curriculum Design- Conduct dynamic and impactful lectures, interactive training sessions, and practical workshops covering essential topics such as bookkeeping, financial reporting, payroll management, accounts receivable/payable, and accounting software applications.
- Design and revise course materials to reflect current industry practices and standards.
- Develop and execute lesson plans, assignments, and assessments that promote effective learning and skill acquisition.
- Assess student performance through various methods including tests, projects, and practical assignments.
- Provide insightful feedback to foster student development and success.
- Offer additional tutoring support to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Deliver academic counseling to assist students in reaching their educational and career aspirations.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory and accreditation requirements for the program.
- Prepare students for recognized industry certifications such as QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel Specialist.
- Maintain comprehensive records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
- Engage in faculty meetings, curriculum evaluations, and other departmental initiatives.
- Support student recruitment, orientation, and retention strategies.
- Build and sustain partnerships with accounting and finance industry stakeholders.
- Coordinate with internship providers to offer students practical experiences.
- Advocate for the program and its advantages to potential students and community members.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
- Prior teaching or training experience is preferred.
- QuickBooks certification is mandatory, along with certification in Microsoft Office Excel or a commitment to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping techniques, financial reporting, and accounting software.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in educational technology and learning management systems.
- This role typically involves working in a classroom or lab setting.
- Occasional travel for professional development may be required.
