Role Overview:

The Senior Director of Innovation will oversee a vibrant technical team focused on enhancing the use of confectionary-based forms within the Over the Counter (OTC) sector. This position is pivotal in spearheading innovation to secure a competitive edge in a swiftly changing market environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Commercial team to establish the strategic roadmap and pipeline for a valuable OTC product portfolio.
  • Lead the integrated Research & Development (R&D) and analytical laboratory teams to create and deliver a range of monograph/New Drug Application (NDA) products.
  • Steer the product and analytical development process from concept to market launch, collaborating cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and operations teams.
  • Partner with Value Stream Leaders to effectively scale and commercialize products, ensuring that essential design criteria are achieved.
  • Manage the portfolio/projects actively, documenting development activities, mitigating risks, and making key decisions in conjunction with executive leadership.
  • Enhance and oversee the product development process to promote efficiency and compliance.
  • Define and implement top-tier tools, techniques, and methodologies to boost technical efficiency.
  • Encourage a culture of innovation and teamwork across various product teams and functional areas.
  • Provide leadership at the site and company level by engaging in significant company initiatives and driving organizational goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences).
  • Over 15 years of experience in Research & Development, with a strong background in developing and commercializing both oral monograph and NDA drug products.
  • More than 10 years of progressive leadership and management experience.
  • In-depth experience in OTC product development, particularly in 505.B.2/NDAs & monograph drugs in the U.S.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a robust sense of ownership to maximize business value.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and motivate senior leaders both internally and externally.
  • Outstanding communication skills and the capability to represent the company and its products effectively with major CPG/pharma/retail clients.
  • Strong analytical abilities and business insight to drive innovation and tackle challenges effectively.
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software applications.
