Role Overview:

The Senior Director of Innovation will spearhead a vibrant technical team focused on enhancing the use of confectionary-based formulations within the Over the Counter (OTC) sector. This position is pivotal in driving innovation to secure a competitive edge in a swiftly changing market environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Commercial team to outline the strategic direction and pipeline for a high-value OTC product portfolio.
  • Lead the integrated Research & Development (R&D) and analytical laboratory teams to create and deliver a portfolio of monograph/New Drug Application (NDA) products.
  • Oversee the product and analytical development journey from concept to market launch, collaborating cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and operations teams.
  • Partner with Value Stream Leaders to effectively scale and commercialize products, ensuring that essential design criteria are fulfilled.
  • Manage the portfolio/projects proactively, documenting development activities, assessing risks, and making critical decisions in conjunction with executive leadership.
  • Enhance and oversee the product development process to promote efficiency and compliance.
  • Establish and implement best-in-class tools, techniques, and methodologies to boost technical efficiency.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation and teamwork across various product teams and functional areas.
  • Provide leadership at both the site and company levels by engaging in key organizational initiatives and driving corporate objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences).
  • Over 15 years of experience in Research & Development, with a strong background in developing and commercializing both oral monograph and NDA drug products.
  • More than 10 years of progressive leadership and management experience.
  • Extensive experience in OTC product development across 505.B.2/NDAs & monograph drugs in the United States.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a robust sense of ownership to maximize business value.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and motivate senior leaders both internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of representing the company and its products effectively with major CPG/pharma/retail clients.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and business insight to drive innovation and effectively tackle challenges.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software applications.
