Job Overview

The Manufacturing Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all production activities to achieve operational goals effectively.

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES

To strategically plan, organize, and administer production operations ensuring that all targets are met efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Direct and manage plant operations, ensuring optimal workload distribution, inventory management, and maintenance protocols.
  2. Continuously assess operational practices to ensure quality workmanship and efficient process flow, identifying areas for improvement.
  3. Guarantee timely product delivery by preparing and disseminating production schedules.
  4. Establish and uphold product quality standards, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  5. Oversee the quality of all products and materials, implementing quality control programs and collaborating with suppliers to meet standards.
  6. Engage in technical discussions with vendors and suppliers, and collaborate with Research and Development as necessary.
  7. Communicate production results against standards and prepare comprehensive production reports.
  8. Foster a safe working environment by addressing safety concerns and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  9. Implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure effective equipment utilization and safety measures.
  10. Analyze data to identify opportunities for process, personnel, and machinery enhancements.
  11. Oversee all aspects of the turnkey process, including fulfillment, distribution, and inventory control.
  12. Manage hazardous waste programs and ensure proper handling and storage of materials.
  13. Achieve or surpass budgeted financial performance metrics and manage departmental budgets.
  14. Maintain an organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency.
  15. Determine appropriate staffing levels for production needs.
  16. Facilitate the development of team leaders and associates.
  17. Ensure effective communication across shifts with team leaders and associates.
  18. May participate as a facilitator on designated safety teams.
  19. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: BA/BS degree preferred.

Experience: A minimum of five years in production management, with experience overseeing a workforce of 50 or more.

Skills/Abilities: Proficient in MS Office, with the ability to forecast production needs and organize workloads. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and customer service interrelations. Proven leadership in staff development, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent communication skills with a strong customer service focus. Financial analysis and forecasting experience is advantageous. Bilingual skills (Spanish) and APICS certification are a plus. Ability to manage a diverse workforce effectively.

Demonstrated success in implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and familiarity with Six Sigma and Quality Management Systems.

Other: This position requires minimal travel (less than 10%).
