POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Operations Leader for Manufacturing Plant is a pivotal figure responsible for steering and managing the operational activities within the facility. This role encompasses oversight of daily operations, ensuring the seamless functioning of various departments including Production, Distribution, Delivery, Maintenance, Sales, Environmental Health & Safety, and Procurement. The individual in this position will facilitate the development of processes and initiatives across functional areas while supporting both the growth of new business and the maintenance of existing operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Financial Management

  • Monitor and analyze financial performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with the Market Manager to create and oversee the annual budget, sales forecasts, and financial management for the plant.
  • Review and authorize financial documents as per company policy.
  • Identify and recommend capital improvement projects that enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Track financial progress towards sales and profit objectives.
  • Assist in preparing and analyzing financial reports to align with strategic market initiatives.
  • Engage in discussions regarding financial performance and corrective action plans.

2. Continuous Improvement Initiatives

  • Champion a culture of performance and continuous improvement within manufacturing operations.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance key performance indicators, focusing on cost reduction and quality maintenance.
  • Assess and refine production and logistics processes for enhanced efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Market Manager to identify and implement process improvements in safety, quality, and cost management.

3. Operational Performance Oversight

  • Oversee all manufacturing and logistics functions within the plant.
  • Ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders.
  • Maintain adherence to budgetary constraints and operational schedules.
  • Evaluate plant performance against established operational standards.
  • Manage compliance with safety and quality programs.
  • Serve as the incident commander in emergency situations.

4. Delivery Management

  • Supervise the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of delivery personnel.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and execution.
  • Drive improvements in delivery performance metrics.
  • Ensure safe and efficient delivery operations.
  • Manage delivery staff and logistics.
  • Prioritize safety and compliance in all delivery operations.

5. Equipment Service Oversight

  • Supervise field equipment service and maintenance activities.
  • Track performance metrics for service personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with operating standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee equipment installation and maintenance projects.
  • Manage inventory of parts and equipment for service personnel.

6. Training and Development

  • Facilitate technical training for service personnel.
  • Ensure all new hires receive comprehensive onboarding.
  • Act as a resource for process improvement suggestions.

7. Safety Culture Promotion

  • Promote safety initiatives and monitor safety performance metrics.
  • Investigate incidents and ensure proper documentation.

8. Employee Development and Engagement

  • Manage staffing to optimize labor efficiency.
  • Establish performance standards and conduct evaluations.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Collaborate with HR to implement effective people practices.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
