POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Operations Leader for Manufacturing Plant is a pivotal figure responsible for steering and managing plant activities. This role encompasses oversight of daily operations to ensure optimal performance across various functions, including Production, Distribution, Maintenance, Sales, Environmental Health & Safety, and Procurement. The individual will foster the development of processes and initiatives that support both existing and new business ventures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Financial Performance Management

  • Monitor and analyze P&L metrics, contributing to financial planning.
  • Collaborate with the Market Manager to formulate and oversee the annual budget, sales projections, and financial management for the plant.
  • Review and authorize financial documents, including invoices and expense reports, in accordance with company policy.
  • Assess and recommend capital improvement initiatives that align with organizational goals.
  • Track financial progress towards monthly and annual sales and profit objectives.
  • Assist the Market Manager in preparing and reconciling financial reports to support strategic initiatives.
  • Engage in discussions regarding financial performance and corrective action plans with the Market Manager.

2. Continuous Improvement Initiatives

  • Encourage a culture of performance and continuous improvement within manufacturing operations.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance key performance indicators, focusing on cost efficiency and quality maintenance.
  • Analyze production and logistics processes to identify efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Market Manager to pinpoint process enhancement opportunities in safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction.

3. Operational Oversight

  • Oversee all manufacturing and logistics activities within the plant.
  • Ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders through effective production management.
  • Guarantee adherence to schedules and budgets.
  • Evaluate plant performance against operational standards and ensure compliance with customer expectations.
  • Maintain safety and regulatory programs within the plant.
  • Supervise the preventive maintenance program and implement necessary updates.
  • Act as the incident commander in emergency situations.

4. Delivery Management

  • Supervise the hiring, training, and performance of delivery personnel.
  • Manage scheduling and execution of deliveries, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Drive improvements in delivery performance metrics.
  • Ensure safe and efficient delivery operations.
  • Oversee delivery staff management and scheduling.
  • Prioritize safety and compliance in all delivery operations.

5. Equipment Service Oversight

  • Supervise field equipment service performance and inspections.
  • Track and evaluate service metrics for field technicians.
  • Manage the hiring process for service technicians across various locations.
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards and regulatory requirements for equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment installation and maintenance projects.
  • Manage inventory to ensure technicians have necessary resources.

6. Technical Training Management

  • Facilitate training partnerships between technicians and experienced colleagues.
  • Provide access to subject matter experts for technical support.
  • Ensure comprehensive onboarding for new technicians.
  • Collect and share process improvement suggestions to maintain operational standards.

7. Safety Culture Promotion

  • Implement and promote safety programs throughout the plant.
  • Monitor safety metrics and communicate findings to staff.
  • Conduct investigations into accidents and ensure proper documentation.

8. Employee Development and Engagement

  • Manage staffing needs to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Establish performance standards and facilitate effective communication.
  • Conduct regular meetings to disseminate important information.
  • Mentor and develop supervisory staff.
  • Support employee growth and identify high-potential talent.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to uphold best practices in personnel management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred college degree.
  • Minimum of three years in a related industry.
  • Over four years of leadership experience in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of operational processes and project management.
  • Valid driver's license required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Varied conditions from office to plant environments.
  • Occasional travel and on-call availability required.
  • Physical demands include lifting and manual dexterity.
