Quality Control Technician

Position Overview:
This role involves operating machinery that combines raw materials to produce beverage items according to precise specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Weigh, measure, and mix components to established standards.
- Conduct routine evaluations to verify that the resulting mixture adheres to specified properties and consistencies.
- Perform regular sampling of products during the bottling/canning process to ensure ongoing compliance with quality standards, including product integrity, fill levels, labeling accuracy, freshness dating, and container quality.
- Document test results and communicate necessary adjustments to the manufacturing process to rectify any inconsistencies.
- Occasionally required to perform deep cleaning and sanitization of blending and filling equipment as well as production lines.
Physical Requirements:
This position may involve lifting and carrying cases weighing between 20-45 pounds repeatedly over a 10-12 hour shift, alongside continuous standing, walking, and handling product samples while seated.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Operate and oversee production line(s) to ensure optimal efficiency.
- Adjust or relocate materials and/or finished goods to promote proper workflow.
- Execute tests and utilize specialized equipment to maintain package and product quality.
- Efficiently and safely operate all manufacturing machinery.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and workspace during and after shifts.
- Uphold a tidy work environment through effective housekeeping practices.
- Adhere to process guidelines and promptly escalate quality concerns to management.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams as needed.
- Keep accurate daily records of tests conducted and their outcomes.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with audit compliance processes, including monitoring and documentation.
- Experience with product changeovers, including cleaning, flavor adjustments, and formula settings.
- Proficiency in operating testing instruments such as Carbo QC, HPLC, and Densitometers.
- Knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adherence to them.
- Experience in calibrating instruments for accurate measurements.
- Understanding of microbiology related to product sensitivity.
- Familiarity with reverse osmosis and water treatment systems.
- Experience with cooling and ammonia systems, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Mechanical system troubleshooting and cleaning experience.
- Experience in sensory testing, including taste and appearance evaluations.
- Basic chemistry knowledge, including the use of titrators and pH meters.
- Understanding of food safety standards and certifications.
