Key Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in assessing student progress and implementing education plans
  • Provide support to students with special needs in a group or one-on-one setting
  • Assist with daily tasks such as eating, dressing, and toileting
  • Administer medication and provide health services as authorized
  • Teach independent living skills such as cooking and laundry
  • Provide behavioral support and implement physical and occupational therapy plans
  • Communicate with students, parents, and community members with respect and confidentiality

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's Degree or passing the written Educational Testing Service competency examination
  • May require certification in first aid, CPR, and/or operation of defibrillators
  • Successful experience working with culturally diverse families and communities
  • Able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and changing tasks and priorities
