Licensed Vocational Nurse

Buckner International is seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for coordinating resident care management and staff direction, while providing direct nursing care to residents.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure that individual health care plans are followed and administer or supervise treatments prescribed by physicians.
- Maintain compliance with all Buckner policies, procedures, and requirements, as well as federal and state laws and agency regulatory guidelines.
- Make meaningful rounds of all residents, utilizing health care plans, and accurately and timely record visits on charts.
- Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, perform in-house testing procedures, and take and record vital signs.
- Assist in maintaining current health care plans according to a schedule rotation and documenting acute episodes or significant changes in resident status.
- Supervise aides in the performance of their duties, monitoring their work, assigning aides to residents, and specifying break times and special duties to be completed.
- Meet with the Director as needed and participate in staff meetings to keep staff performing at optimum level.
- Personally receive or place all calls to physicians and follow through with physician's orders timely and accurately.
- Supervise the preparation and administration of prescribed medications accurately.
- Order all new medications and refills, give initial doses of all new medications, and chart them timely and accurately.
- Order and maintain nursing supplies, monitor the condition of the medication room, cart, and refrigerator.
- Direct charting on their shift and make detailed evaluations of all resident charting in accordance with facility policy, regulatory guidelines, and resident status.
- Recognize significant changes in the condition of residents and take necessary action as directed by the Director of Nursing.
- Professionally communicate with resident families and respond to questions or concerns.
- Supervise the serving of prescribed diets and fluid intake, report persistent unresolved problems to the physician and/or the Director of Nursing or appropriate discipline.
- Supervise the preparation of, or prepare, incident reports.
- Accurately and timely complete focused assessments and appropriate discharge documentation.
- Detect and correct situations that have a probability of causing accidents or injuries to residents or others immediately.
- Intervene in resident disputes or disruptive behavior, if necessary, to maintain proper facility harmony and resident safety.
- Accurately monitor nursing equipment, repairs, and/or replacement.
- Adhere to the Licensed Vocational Nurse practice standards as established by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service training, as required.
- Provide additional leadership for ancillary staff.
- Work schedules, assignments, and units as requested by the facility to meet business needs.
- Accurately and timely complete documentation.
- Work successfully as part of a team and be responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers.
- Perform general office tasks as required.
- Perform special assignments, projects, and other duties as required.
