Job Summary:


The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is a vital member of the healthcare team at Christus Health. As an LVN, you will provide high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with providers to ensure the best possible outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide general nursing care to patients, administering treatments in accordance with established nursing standards.
  • Assist providers during examinations, testing, and treatments, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience.
  • Observe, record, and report patients' conditions and reactions to medications or treatments to providers.
  • Manage appointment bookings, prioritizing emergency situations and maintaining a timely flow of patients.
  • Collect patient history and vitals, preparing patients for physical exams and instructing them on collection of samples and tests.
  • Perform various tasks, including vital sign collection, initial patient assessments, and coordination of patient transfers to hospitals or discharge.
  • Administer medications, including IV push medications, and add medications to IV solutions under direct supervision.
  • Make arrangements for patient testing and admissions, ensuring seamless coordination of care.
  • Develop and update patient care plans, ordering and preparing patient charts, and posting test results.
  • Maintain patient files, records, and other information in a professional manner, adhering to policies and procedures regarding documentation.
  • Ensure exam rooms are prepared, including restocking treatment areas, to provide a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Participate in professional development activities, maintaining licensure and affiliations, and adhering to CHRISTUS Health's cultural diversity objectives.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines to prevent unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI) and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, using clear and positive language consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission.
  • Support and adhere to CHRISTUS Health's Service Guarantee and maintain established policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

Requirements:


  • Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing or vocational nursing.
  • Valid state license to practice nursing and current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
