Role Summary

As an Embedded Motion Control Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development and execution of safety-critical embedded software that governs vehicle dynamics, including propulsion, steering, and braking systems. Your expertise will also extend to diagnosing system challenges, encompassing sensor, wiring, electronic hardware, actuators, and embedded software across various levels.

Key Responsibilities

Your contributions will include:
  • Designing and implementing safety-critical embedded software for vehicle motion control (propulsion, steering, and braking).
  • Assessing system architecture and defining sensor specifications to meet control system objectives.
  • Enhancing control system designs based on actuator performance.
  • Incorporating Functional Safety and Failure Mode Avoidance principles into system architecture.
  • Creating automated validation tests (unit, sub-system, and system levels) that integrate into a CI/CD pipeline, and analyzing test outcomes.
  • Supporting the planning and execution of software development aligned with target vehicle programs, ensuring successful project delivery through production.
  • Diagnosing system issues related to sensors, wiring, electronic hardware, actuators, and embedded software at both application and Basic Software levels.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in developing safety-critical embedded control software.
  • At least 3 years of experience in implementing and validating motion control algorithms in embedded software (C/C++) for production environments.
  • Proven troubleshooting and debugging skills with a focus on end-to-end control system resolution.
Preferred Qualifications

Additionally, you may have:
  • A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering, particularly with a focus on Dynamics/Controls.
  • 20 years of experience in safety-critical embedded control software development.
  • Experience working within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) team.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Jira, GitHub, Jama, and Jenkins/GitHub Actions.
  • Expertise in EV/Hybrid propulsion control systems, including Motor Controls, Thermal Management, and Charging.
  • Experience with software implementation in the AUTOSAR Classic platform.
