Project Overview:
Bechtel is currently engaged in the development of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility in Port Arthur, Texas. This project will feature two identical LNG trains, two LNG storage tanks, an LNG carrier berth, and associated utilities and facilities.
Job Summary:
As a Field Structural Engineering Specialist, you will leverage your expertise in project field engineering to oversee work planning, material management, quantity verification, safety and quality control, and subcontractor coordination. Your insights will be vital in ensuring that field engineering activities are conducted safely, thoroughly, and in accordance with quality standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work Planning & Packaging: Prepare construction drawings and facilitate planning for construction methods and procedures.
- Material Management: Initiate requisitions for field purchases and prepare quantity takeoffs for materials and equipment.
- Quantity Verification: Ensure accurate tracking of commodities using relevant systems.
- Safety & Quality Control: Uphold a zero-accident philosophy, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational protocols.
- Technical Oversight: Engage in continuous learning and development relevant to the role.
- System Turnover Coordination: Develop a comprehensive understanding of system and area scoping necessary for package development.
- Subcontract Coordination: Review and approve inspection test plans and manage subcontractor submittals.
Education and Experience Requirements:
A bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) along with 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of applicable work experience is required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven experience in inspecting structural steel.
- Familiarity with plumbing and alignment checks on structural steel.
- Knowledge of AISC codes and standards.
- Experience working in the U.S. Gulf Coast region is preferred.
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
