About the Role

We are seeking a creative quantum scientist to help us grow new projects and mature existing ones at APL. As an Experimental Superconducting Quantum Physicist, you will contribute to research that tackles the problems of designing, controlling, and scaling superconducting qubit systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Propose and lead independent research projects focusing on novel superconducting quantum devices, controls, or characterization techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with other APL staff to identify emerging challenges with quantum solutions.
  • Support ongoing programs in quantum information science by making immediate contributions to efforts that implement quantum characterization, control, and error protection strategies in superconducting qubit systems.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 1+ years of post-doctoral experimental experience with quantum systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proven record of research accomplishments and publications in the field of quantum science.
  • The ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and ultimately meet the requirements for access to classified information.
