About the Role:

We are seeking an Experimental Superconducting Quantum Physicist to join our team at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a member of our team, you will contribute to research that tackles the problems of designing, controlling, and scaling superconducting qubit systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Propose and lead independent research projects focus on novel superconducting quantum devices, controls, or characterization techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with other APL staff to identify emerging challenges with quantum solutions.
  • Support ongoing programs in quantum information science by making immediate contributions to efforts that are looking to implement quantum characterization, control, and error protection strategies in superconducting qubit systems.

Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 1+ years of post-doctoral (or equivalent) experimental experience with quantum systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proven record of research accomplishments and publications in the field of quantum science.
  • Able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI+poly level clearance.
