Position Overview:
The Maintenance Mechanic I plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency of our manufacturing processes at Dart Container. This position requires a commitment to safety and excellence in mechanical maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to OSHA regulations and facility safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out procedures and the proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Conduct repairs in a safe manner, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Regularly assess safety practices and implement necessary changes to prevent accidents.
- Collaborate with production supervisors to ensure timely completion of maintenance work orders.
- Utilize a variety of tools, including hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Operate powered industrial trucks (PIT), hoists, cranes, and aerial lifts as required.
- Engage with operators to identify equipment issues and determine if they stem from mechanical or human error.
- Repair, replace, or adjust defective components using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Assemble, install, or repair electrical and electronic systems, machinery, or equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal machine performance and efficiency.
- Deliver prompt and effective service to machinery and equipment to meet production timelines.
- Complete tasks under the guidance of senior technicians.
- Foster positive employee relations and maintain high morale within the team.
- Exhibit teamwork and respect by collaborating effectively with colleagues.
- Follow all safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.
- Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or department managers.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specifications.
- Experience with various hand and power tools.
- Fundamental understanding of precision measuring tools.
- Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add and subtract fractions.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities.
- Capability to operate PIT, hoists, and cranes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience in machinery repair within a warehouse setting.
