Addiction Recovery Specialist

Job Summary
An employee in this class serves as a liaison with substance abuse and mental health service providers and individuals with substance abuse problems. The employee is expected to exercise judgment and initiative in carrying out substance abuse, clinical program, and treatment goals in the assigned area after an intensive orientation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct addiction recovery services and consultation services in accordance with Wexford policies and procedures, New Hampshire Department of Corrections regulations, and state statutes concerning the delivery and practice of addiction recovery services.
- Provide routine addiction recovery services, including intake assessments, individual and group intervention, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
- Provide consultation services when requested by facility staff, medical staff, or mental health staff.
- Document all inmate encounters and significant addiction recovery information in SAMS and the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with Wexford policies and procedures and New Hampshire Department of Corrections regulations.
- Participate in staff meetings and in-service training programs as offered by Wexford and the New Hampshire Department of Corrections.
- Provide other services relating to the functioning of the addiction recovery department as assigned.
- Inform Staff Psychiatrist of personal need for additional supervision or overall problems in delivery of services.
- Maintain confidentiality of inmate information in accordance with Wexford and New Hampshire Department of Corrections policy.
- Interrelate and work effectively with other addiction recovery staff, Wexford administrative, medical, and mental health personnel, New Hampshire Department of Corrections staff, inmates, and outside support agencies.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
- Complete addiction services documentation requirements.
- Provide individual and group counseling as clinically appropriate and agreed upon by the treatment team and/or Staff Psychiatrist.
- Assist in discharge planning and referral process to appropriate resources when an inmate is discharged to the community, work release, or elsewhere in the system.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and follow all team/unit protocols.
- Follow security regulations and policies, with consideration of clinical factors.
- Recommend or offer input to the multi-disciplinary team for transfers to alternate levels of care and/or grade changes when requested.
- Adhere to all Behavioral Health policies, including but not limited to treatment program admissions, required encounters, and treatment follow-up.
Requirements
- Current license (LADC or Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor) to deliver addiction recovery services in the state of New Hampshire is required.
- Current CPR certification is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Addiction Recovery, Psychology, Social Work, or related field is preferred but not required.
- Professional experience in counseling and guidance, education, public health, rehabilitation counseling, social work, vocational rehabilitation, addiction treatment services, or related experience is preferred.
