Position Summary: As a Sommelier with Levy, you will be tasked with curating and overseeing our wine selection, enhancing guests' dining experiences through expert wine pairings, and delivering outstanding customer service. Your extensive knowledge of wines and spirits will be essential in developing a beverage program that complements our culinary offerings and delights our guests.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Wine Curation: Develop and manage a diverse wine list that aligns with the restaurant's culinary offerings and clientele. Build strong relationships with vintners, sponsors, guests, and team members.
  • Guest Engagement: Provide personalized wine recommendations to guests based on their preferences and menu selections. Conduct wine tastings and educate guests about different wine varieties, regions, and pairings. Foster relationships with guests and season ticket holders to enhance sales opportunities.
  • Wine Pairing Collaboration: Work closely with the culinary team to design and recommend wine pairings that elevate the overall dining experience. Collaborate with chefs to create wine pairing menus.
  • Inventory Oversight: Manage wine inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storage. Ensure optimal wine storage conditions and manage stock levels to minimize waste while ensuring availability.
  • Staff Training: Educate and mentor front-of-house staff on wine service, including proper handling, pouring, and pairing techniques. Develop and conduct training sessions to enhance staff knowledge and performance.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all wines served meet high-quality standards. Address any guest concerns related to wine service promptly and professionally.

Adhere to all Levy policies and standards, reporting any employee infractions or irregularities to management for immediate follow-up and training.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Sommelier or in a similar role within a high-end dining environment, with relevant experience in wine service, inventory management, and guest interaction.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of global wine regions, varietals, and production methods. Familiarity with spirits and other beverages is advantageous. Introductory sommelier certification – REQUIRED LEVEL 1
  • Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate guests. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds. Capable of maintaining professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations.
