Position Summary:
We are in search of a committed and caring individual to fulfill the role of Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP). The QMAP plays a crucial role in the safe and precise administration of medications to residents, working under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, outstanding communication abilities, and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional care to our residents.

Shift Availability:
Part Time/PRN - Monday 7:00am - 11:00am

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Duties:
    • Embody the principles of the Eden Alternative in daily operations.
    • Uphold resident confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
    • Participate in required training sessions, educational programs, and meetings.
    • Effectively read and understand instructions, correspondence, and memos.
    • Collaborate and communicate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
    • Maintain proficiency in Community Electronic Health Record software.
    • Stay informed about Community policies and procedures.
    • Perform basic mathematical calculations.
    • Make independent decisions when necessary.
    • Exhibit the highest standards of personal and professional integrity.
    • Respect and honor resident rights.
    • Engage with residents in a respectful and dignified manner.
    • Respond promptly and appropriately to requests from residents, families, and visitors.
    • Deliver courteous and effective service to all residents, guests, and colleagues.
  • Medication Management:
    • Ensure the medication room and cart are secured at all times.
    • Keep the medication cart organized, clean, and fully stocked.
    • Order, store, and administer medications in accordance with Community policies and physician directives.
    • Conduct narcotic counts each shift and report any discrepancies to the Health Wellness Director.
    • Review daily notes for updates and changes at the start of each shift.
    • Dispose of expired or discontinued medications promptly, following Community protocols.
    • Record and obtain vital signs as directed on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) or vital sign log.
    • Follow Universal Precautions and Infection Control protocols diligently.
    • Maintain logs for medication and specimen refrigerator temperatures.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Regularly assess resident care plans and medication orders for updates or modifications.
    • Complete Incident Reports as per Community Policy and Procedure.
    • Document Short Term Observations in the resident's Electronic Health Record (EHR) as applicable.
    • Record support and assistance provided in the resident's EHR as needed.
    • Document and report requests for additional support or changes in assistance in the resident's EHR.
    • Report observations of significant changes in resident conditions in the resident's EHR.
  • Resident Care:
    • May provide direct care to residents as needed.
    • When delivering resident care, ensure:
      • Respect for dignity, personal preferences, and choices.
      • Promotion of resident independence in line with care plans.
      • Compliance with Community infection control standards.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, and move frequently during working hours.
  • Capability to lift 40 lbs. from floor to waist, lift 10 lbs. from waist to shoulder, carry 40 lbs., and push/pull 40 lbs.
  • Able to assist in the evacuation of residents when necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Effective communication skills in English, with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Qualified Medication Administration Person (QMAP) certification as mandated by Colorado regulations.
  • Current CPR certification is required throughout employment.
  • First aid certification from a recognized organization is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in a senior care or healthcare environment is preferred.
