Position Overview
This role involves executing comprehensive engineering tasks, including the assessment of engineering options, data analysis, calculations, CAD drafting, and the creation of specifications and reports for the design, development, construction, and commissioning of mechanical, refrigeration, and process (MRP) components essential for HVAC testing facilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and various departments to ensure project success.
- Engage in project work that encompasses MRP systems designed to replicate specific and extreme environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, precipitation (rain, snow, ice, fog, salt, etc.), air flow, liquid flow, and high-pressure vapor flow.

Engineering Tasks
- Develop conceptual designs and cost assessments for MRP project components during the budgeting phase.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data, while also creating engineering software applications (e.g., Excel, EES, LabView) and designing fundamental process systems, sub-systems, and components.
- Prepare comprehensive designs, including drawings, requests for quotes (RFQs), bills of materials (BOMs), and construction specifications.

Coordination and Compliance
- Address contractor and engineering requests for information (RFIs).
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, and other disciplines to ensure cutting-edge designs for complete HVAC test facility projects.
- Create refrigeration and process system designs and develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for projects that replicate specific and extreme environmental conditions.

Quality Assurance
- Review project designs to ensure adherence to relevant national and local codes, engineering principles, industry best practices, company standards, and related specifications.
- Plan and execute on-site startup, troubleshooting, adjustments, testing, and commissioning of MRP systems for all test facility projects.

Operational Excellence
- Facilitate all capital planning and execution while operating in compliance with safety, quality, confidentiality, and ethics policies.
- Complete recurring online training modules with self-certification and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution; a master's degree or PE registration is preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering design within the HVAC sector; or 6 years of experience post-MSME degree or PE license.
- Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards, including ASHRAE, AHRI, UL, AMCA, ASME, ANSI, SMACNA, UBC (ICC), and others.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Windows operating environment, including Microsoft Office software and AutoCAD or equivalent engineering documentation tools.
- Ability to work independently on detailed tasks with high accuracy, multitask effectively, and engage with various stakeholders as needed.
- Strong organizational, record-keeping, verbal, and written communication skills in English, along with effective interpersonal skills to contribute as part of an internal customer service team.
