Job Title: Senior Credit Officer

City National Bank is seeking a highly skilled Senior Credit Officer to join our Commercial Banking team. As a Senior Credit Officer, you will play a critical role in the loan management process, providing credit and loan underwriting expertise to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the loan management process, analyzing prospective loan transactions and credit worthiness of borrowers.
  • Validate credit analysis prepared by Credit Analysts and provide opinions and recommendations regarding proposed credit and potential risks.
  • Ensure all due diligence and background evaluation is complete and thorough before submitting Credit Risk Recommendation.
  • Review loan request applications and financial information, evaluating and determining credit structure and terms.
  • Underwrite CRR consistent with Bank format, policies, and procedures, determining sources and uses of funds, and analyzing industry data, competitive factors, historical performance, projected results, risks, and mitigating factors.
  • Attend client meetings to facilitate delivery of credit product and/or assist in problem resolution.
  • Provide balanced and appropriate credit guidance to Relationship Managers and collaborate in determining credit strategy.
  • Provide credit alternatives and creative ways to structure credits, ensuring transactions are within profitability and portfolio risk standards.
  • Author credit approval memoranda and provide input to Relationship Managers and Managers when loan pricing does not appear to reflect inherent risk in subject transactions.
  • Perform quarterly Problem Loan reporting for Criticized/Classified credits, including financial reviews of client's financial condition, monitoring covenants and conditions, and taking a proactive approach toward development and implementation of Action Plans.
  • Escalate potential credit issues to Relationship Managers, CBS Managers, and/or Credit Managers.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on all Bank lending policies and regulations, conferring with Credit Managers and appropriate Bank personnel regarding new/existing lending requirements and regulations.
  • Coordinate loan documentation, including work with legal, CLC, or other outside counsel to obtain correct, accurate documents to ensure all loans are documented to fully protect the Bank's interests in the credit relationship.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in underwriting medium to large-sized and moderately complex commercial credit.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a banking or financial services environment.
  • Or a minimum of 10 years of experience in underwriting large and complex commercial loans.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Extensive technical expertise and full knowledge of commercial credit principles, financial concepts, and regular use of ingenuity and creativity in solving complex credit problems.
  • Communicates skillfully and effectively in both verbal and written forms.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and accountability for decision-making.
  • Ability to work well independently to restructure loans and/or lines of credit as required.
Compensation:

Starting base salary: $111,408 - $189,738 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
