Job Summary

The Medical Center Clerk-Welcome & Information Center is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, families, and visitors. This role requires a friendly and approachable demeanor, with a focus on maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring a smooth experience for all individuals entering the Medical Center.

Duties and Essential Functions
  • Customer Service: Greet customers upon entry, provide information as requested, and maintain a positive image for the Medical Center.
  • Visitor Screening: Monitor and screen visitors and team members upon entry, following specific guidelines to ensure a secure environment.
  • Phone Operations: Answer phone calls, route calls, and provide information to internal and external customers, team members, and medical staff.
  • File Maintenance: Maintain a file of Medical Center personnel and departments, including name and extension numbers.
  • Security and Operations: Monitor security, plant operations, nursing, and valet radio as needed, and receive disaster information to notify proper personnel and departments.
  • Mail and Logistics: Sort and open mail for distribution, prepare outgoing mail, and maintain a log for recording certified mail.
  • Patient Transport: Transport or escort patients, per protocol, and give handoff to receiving team members.
Education, License, Certification, and Other Requirements
  • Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED, with a strong desire to work with people and project a positive image for the Medical Center.

Working Environment
  • Works indoors in an office/clinic setting.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
  • Constantly required to maintain a stationary position behind a computer.
  • Frequently required to move about inside the department.
  • Constantly required to communicate telephonically and face-to-face with colleagues and customers.
  • Constantly required to operate a computer and telephone.
  • Constantly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
