Job Title: Senior Education Specialist-Child Welfare Trainer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Education Specialist-Child Welfare Trainer to join our team at The Research Foundation for The State University of New York. As a key member of our Professional Development Program, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality continuing professional education programming for child welfare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver training programs on working with alcohol and substance-affected families to caseworkers and supervisors of local Departments of Social Service and voluntary agencies.
  • Develop and deliver individualized training, consultation, and support needed for caseworkers in local district and provider agencies to meet emerging needs.
  • Revise training materials as needed.
  • Prepare and complete reports as requested.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • Two years of experience working with children and families affected by substance misuse and knowledge of substance use disorders.
  • One year of experience in the delivery or development of instructional programs for adults and providing consultation.
  • Knowledge of recent federal and New York State child welfare initiatives.
  • Knowledge of adult education theory.
  • Excellent writing, speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities/competing deadlines in a team setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer use, specifically Microsoft products.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout NYS to deliver trainings and attend meetings, including travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from a college or university accredited by a USDOE, or an internationally recognized accrediting organization in Social Welfare, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in child welfare services/child protective services.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC).
  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Experience in the delivery of web-based training.
