Job Title: Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

Albany Medical Center is seeking a qualified Pre-Kindergarten Teacher to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Pre-Kindergarten Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing a curriculum that reflects the mission of Albany Med Kids. This includes supervising and managing a Pre-Kindergarten classroom, as well as ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of each child in the class.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement positive, supportive methods of behavior management to nurture and foster each child's feelings of confidence, competence, and self-direction.
  • Plan and implement all indoor and outdoor activities for the classroom, reflective of established Albany Med Kids curriculum and lesson planning procedure and policy.
  • Ensure the preparation of supplies and materials are prepared on a daily basis.
  • Immediately report all accidents involving a child to the teacher, and a member of the administrative team. Accurately record all details of the accident on an incident report, as outlined in Albany Med Kids' Employee Handbook.
  • Participate in all aspects of custodial care of children as well as classroom.
  • Responsible for each child's development of self-help skills through adequate supervision and encouraging children to accept gradually more responsibility in the areas where appropriate.
  • Maintain parent classroom boards and other channels of communication with parents.
  • Responsible for clear communication with parents and appropriate notification of administration.
  • Serves as a positive role model for the children and co-workers.
  • Attends and contributes to monthly and weekly staff meetings.
  • Attends workshops, conferences or and in-service training on an annual basis.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, or a Child Development Associate Credential.
  • Preliminary classroom experience of at least 1 year.
Work Environment:

This role may require access to information considered sensitive to Albany Medical Center, its patients, affiliates, and partners, including but not limited to HIPAA Protected Health Information and other information regulated by Federal and New York State statutes.

  • Use or disclosure shall not exceed the minimum amount of information needed to accomplish an intended purpose.
  • Reasonable efforts, consistent with Albany Med Center policies and standards, shall be made to ensure that information is adequately protected from unauthorized access and modification.
