Job Overview

Responsibilities

The Facilities Operations Manager is responsible for planning, establishing, and maintaining a work environment that aligns with the objectives of Shriners Hospitals.

Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing maintenance and repairs of the hospital infrastructure and utility systems.
- Assisting with facility planning, design, and construction projects.
- Offering technical expertise and consultative services regarding building systems and infrastructure.
- Providing leadership, fostering staff relationships, and promoting a productive work environment.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations including TJC, NFPA, ADA, OSHA, and local standards.
- Managing Life Safety and Environment of Care protocols.

The role requires a high degree of independence while adhering to established procedures, manufacturer specifications, and accreditation requirements.

Additional responsibilities include:
- Ensuring timely completion of work orders, typically within a 24-hour timeframe, barring any delays due to parts or unforeseen circumstances.
- Maintaining all building equipment and machinery in optimal working condition.
- Implementing a thorough preventive maintenance program.
- Conducting annual safety checks on equipment to ensure safe operation.

As the Chief Safety Officer for the hospital, the Facilities Operations Manager will participate in all safety and risk management committee meetings, including conducting safety drills.

Other duties involve:
- Providing safety orientation for new employees and documenting this in personnel files.
- Reporting weekly activities to the Associate Director of Support Services and planning for upcoming tasks.
- Maintaining the exterior grounds and parking facilities.
- Identifying and recommending solutions for potential operational issues.
- Offering managerial and operational guidance to the unit/department.
- Ensuring that operating expenses remain within approved budgetary limits.
- Setting personal and departmental goals.
Qualifications
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline is preferred, or equivalent experience in a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in Plant Operations.
Other: At least 3 years of leadership experience.
