Area Operations Manager

The Area Operations Manager is accountable for the financial success of a portfolio of accounts within HES Facility Services. This role is pivotal in achieving the strategic goals set by senior management and ownership for each account.
Reporting Structure
The Area Operations Manager reports directly to a Vice President of Operations and supervises Account Leadership. This position collaborates with various departments including business development, finance, human resources, and safety to fulfill objectives.
Key Responsibilities
A. Operations Management:
1. Oversee daily facility services across all assigned accounts.
2. Promote the company’s mission and values consistently.
3. Maintain a high retention rate among existing clients.
4. Conduct quarterly reviews with clients to discuss performance.
5. Set specific performance standards and communicate annual goals to team members.
6. Ensure compliance with CIMS programs and maintain accreditation.
7. Keep routing information current and accessible in necessary languages.
8. Implement and uphold company policies and procedures.
9. Monitor staffing levels to optimize account performance.
10. Achieve acceptable APPA scores at all locations.
11. Foster strong relationships with key clients and decision-makers.
12. Perform site inspections and audits to assess service quality.
13. Develop and implement quality assurance procedures.
14. Ensure adherence to standardized work processes.
15. Request payroll audits as needed.
16. Stay informed about new service offerings and communicate updates.
17. Utilize key technology applications effectively.
18. Coordinate start-up and closure activities for accounts.
19. Exhibit strong interpersonal skills to engage with all employee levels and clients.
20. Build effective partnerships with clients for service delivery.
B. Business Development:
1. Collaborate with Account Directors to strategize on increasing revenue.
2. Support initiatives to generate new business opportunities.
3. Manage contract renewals proactively.
C. Financial Oversight:
1. Monitor budgets and manage expenses to meet financial goals.
2. Utilize financial scorecards to assess performance monthly.
3. Review payroll processes for accuracy and timeliness.
4. Oversee purchasing and inventory management.
5. Track receivables to meet targets.
6. Implement cost containment strategies.
D. Human Resources:
1. Participate in the recruitment and selection of account leadership.
2. Train staff on operational systems and processes.
3. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback.
4. Mentor emerging leaders within the organization.
5. Ensure compliance with hiring regulations.
6. Develop succession plans for key positions.
7. Create career development pathways for leadership roles.
