Executive Chef and Operations Manager

The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Hawaii is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Culinary Director and Kitchen Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our kitchen and café. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of food preparation, presentation, and service, ensuring that our guests receive exceptional dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the kitchen and café staff, including recruitment, training, and supervision, to ensure high-quality food preparation and presentation.
- Develop and implement menus, taking into account seasonal availability of ingredients, customer preferences, and budget constraints.
- Oversee food preparation, including planning, purchasing, and inventory management, to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe working environment for staff and guests.
- Collaborate with events staff to develop menus and provide exceptional service for special occasions, such as weddings and banquets.
- Monitor and control food costs, labor costs, and inventory levels to achieve financial objectives.
- Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen and café staff to ensure excellent customer service and high-quality food preparation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating prices and ensuring timely delivery of ingredients and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including maintaining records, reports, and documents related to kitchen operations.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a kitchen or culinary manager in a high-volume kitchen, casual dining kitchen, or banquet facility.
- Proven experience in managing a diverse team, including contract workers, and multiple outlets to maximize productivity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a high degree of professionalism and the ability to work with diverse groups.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software related to the food industry.
- Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as required.
- Bachelor's degree in culinary arts or a related field.
- Two years of experience coordinating special events, including weddings and banquets.
The position requires sitting, climbing, and balancing, as well as standing, walking, and manual dexterity. The ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds without assistance and more than 25 pounds with assistance is also required. The position involves working in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interactions with staff, guests, and vendors.
