Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Intake Specialist to join our team at the Legal Aid Society of San Diego. As an Intake Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional service to our clients, ensuring that they receive the support and resources they need to navigate the legal system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer a high volume of incoming calls to LASSD, providing empathetic and professional support to clients.
  • Conduct thorough interviews with applicants to determine their legal needs and eligibility for services.
  • Make informed referrals to other teams or organizations as needed.
  • Accurately enter client data into our database, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and secure.
  • Record and maintain accurate statistics on client interactions.
  • Prepare and distribute pro per packets to clients as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual English and Spanish language skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients who speak limited English.
  • Experience working in a non-profit or social services setting, with a strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by low-income individuals and families.
  • Knowledge of the legal system and the services provided by LASSD, with a strong commitment to social justice and community empowerment.
