Position Overview

The Stanford Center for Clinical Research (SCCR) is an expanding academic research entity within the Stanford Department of Medicine. Our goal is to execute and advocate for impactful, innovative clinical research aimed at enhancing human health.

Role Responsibilities

The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRCa) will be engaged in the COVID and Long COVID trials at the Stanford Tri-Valley site, including a significant NIH-funded study, RECOVER, which is a four-year initiative involving over 1000 participants.

The CRCa will collaborate closely with a CRC II to:

  • Recruit and enroll participants
  • Oversee the workflow of research participants to ensure the completion of study visits

The CRCa will manage all facets of the study, which encompasses:

  • Participant communication
  • Conducting in-person assessments
  • Data collection and entry
  • Ensuring adherence to study protocols

Key Duties

As the primary liaison with research participants, sponsors, and regulatory bodies, the CRCa will:

  • Coordinate the collection and processing of study specimens
  • Gather and manage patient and laboratory data for clinical research projects
  • Maintain research project databases and develop study-related documents
  • Ensure compliance with research protocols and audit case report forms for accuracy
  • Prepare regulatory submissions and manage Institutional Review Board renewals
  • Assemble study kits and monitor the scheduling of procedures
  • Attend monitoring meetings with sponsors
  • Oversee expenditures and adherence to study budgets
  • Ensure proper documentation and recording of patient and research data
  • Participate in monitoring visits and regulatory audits
Qualifications

A clinical research operations certificate or a willingness to pursue one is preferred. Candidates should possess:

  • A two-year college degree with two years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Additionally, candidates should be working towards certifications for basic patient measurements and tests, such as phlebotomy and EKG.

Physical Requirements

The role may require:

  • Occasional sitting, reaching, and performing desk-based tasks
  • Using a telephone and writing by hand
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 40 pounds

There may be rare instances of kneeling, crawling, climbing, and lifting heavier objects.

Work Environment

Employees may work in areas with hazardous materials and may be exposed to chemicals, blood, body fluids, or tissues, as well as contagious diseases. The position may require extended or unusual hours based on research needs.
