Internship Opportunity in Sports and Events Management

Destination DC is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to assist in the management of sports and events in Washington, D.C. As a Sports and Events Intern, you will play a key role in supporting the Tourism, Sports, & Visitor Experience department's operations, including sports management, site visits, sales support, CRM management, and team meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the management of the sports calendar, sports web page, and social media efforts related to sports in DC.
  • Support the department with site visit/familiarization tour itineraries and logistics.
  • Assist sales managers with planning for appropriate sports events and travel trade shows.
  • Manage the company's CRM system, Simpleview.
  • Attend weekly meetings with sports sales managers.
  • Support bid proposals for sports events and conventions.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in college, junior or senior year, in good standing.
  • Sports Management, Hospitality, Travel & Tourism, Marketing, and Event Planning majors preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Social media experience a plus.
  • Previous internship experience a plus.

Internship Details:

  • Duration: Spring (January 13 - May 15).
  • Hours: 20-28 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm EST.
