Job Summary

Sparks Group is seeking a highly motivated and organized Sports Program Coordinator to oversee and deliver a diverse range of intramural sports and recreational programs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing student life through dynamic and engaging recreational programs.

The Sports Program Coordinator will work closely with leadership for Student Life and Activities to create an inclusive and exciting environment that promotes sportsmanship and active participation among students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and manage men's, women's, and co-recreational intramural programs, including fall and spring activities, with a focus on diversity and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with various departments such as athletics, student activities, and facilities to coordinate scheduling, supervision, and facility guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive intramural sport rules and safety procedures, including risk management plans.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise student managers and referees for intramural sports.
  • Manage the intramurals budget, prepare annual goals and reports, and oversee financial transactions related to intramural activities.
  • Create and implement marketing and publicity plans to promote participation in intramural sports.
  • Develop and propose campus-wide special events and activities that enhance student engagement and satisfaction.
  • Maintain communication with participants, staff, and officials through various channels, including social media.
  • Perform regular maintenance and ensure compliance with campus policies and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in planning and managing recreational, intramural, or club sports activities.
  • Ability to support students in-person for on-site and away games that occur in the evenings and weekends.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in budget management, marketing, and public relations.
  • Experience in supervising staff and working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions that align with the university's mission and goals.
