Unit Overview:
The Main Operating Room (OR) features 14 state-of-the-art Operating Rooms, including specialized facilities for Endovascular procedures, Open Heart surgeries, and Pediatric care. Our comprehensive surgical services encompass a wide range of specialties, including General Surgery, ENT, Urology, Vascular, Thoracic, and more. The OR is staffed around the clock to ensure continuous patient care.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse coordinates patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, employing critical thinking and nursing principles to uphold patient safety and well-being. Some roles may require specialized training in critical care settings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver direct patient care, assess outcomes, and collaborate with specialists to adapt care plans as necessary.
- Conduct initial nursing assessments, document patient histories, and develop tailored care strategies.
- Review shift reports and perform thorough rounds to monitor patient conditions.
- Communicate effectively with physicians regarding any significant patient events or concerns.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to address patient and family educational needs, providing relevant resources.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided and make adjustments to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Identify and address workplace health and safety concerns.
- Administer care using aseptic techniques and manage IV lines as required.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards, taking corrective actions when necessary.
- Mentor and educate new staff members.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Completion of a nationally-accredited nursing program is essential. Some positions may necessitate additional specialized training.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one year of nursing experience in an acute care environment is preferred. Specific roles may require additional experience in specialized areas.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION: A valid RN license for the State of Arizona and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are mandatory. Advanced Life Support certifications may be required for certain departments.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient understanding of patient care and critical care procedures.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to interpret clinical documents and follow complex instructions.
- Competence in performing and interpreting EKGs.
- Capacity to analyze problems, gather data, and make informed decisions.
